Harvard prides itself on being highly selective - but you knew that.
One tip I heard was that the admissions committee is looking for
someone with a voice - i.e., someone who does well enough on SATs,
grades and extracurricular activities to thrive there, but also has
something extra - an indefinable uniqueness. Consequently, I'd
recommend that anyone applying ought to accentuate whatever there is
about them that makes them different. Do this in the essay and in the
interview. Being 'upbeat' is not the same. Be different.
