This is where Gonzaga excels above most colleges. One of the biggest features
the
school offers is the Kennel Club, which is a student run organization (Having no
affiliation
with the university) which supports the men's basketball team, but also has its
own
subculture. Almost 2/3 of the student body is part of it, and socail events are
almost
never missed. This is the cornerstone of the social life at Gonzaga.
There are three bars that are hit up the most in the Gonzaga area, including
Jack and
Dan's, which is owned by GU Alum John Stockton's father. The "triangle" is the
happening
area on the weekends at the end of the night after house parties and other bar
hopping.
While there are quite a few bars that have a slew of things to offer in the
downtown area,
it is a few miles away and often requires a DD. Students will flock to
different bars on
different nights, and then come back to the "triangle" before finishing off at
"late night."
(The final house party of the evening - held after last call at 2:00 A.M.)
Even though people at Gonzaga are very social and almost everyone is well liked,
Gonzaga is not the place to go for the dating scene. While the men are known to
never
quit trying, people can be very selective at Gonzaga. GU guys are known to go
to local
public colleges to find girls at times, because the dating enviornment can be
dried up in a
hurry at Gonzaga. If you are lucky enough to be in it, the restaurants and
clubs are not
bad for the area. There are a lot of things to do in the outdoors if you are
into that sort
of thing, including Lake Coeur D'ALane which offers boat rides in the shadow of
the
mountains.
