The admissions process is very straight forward. Tech is a public
school, and they receive a ton of in-state applicants. This makes it
much easier for you to get in if you are out-of-state, or better yet
out-of-country.
I don't remember ever having to interview at all. The application
itself was fairly short, with a generic required essay. The only
somewhat challenging part of admissions is the supposed 1340+ average
SAT score, but I don't know how they can actually claim that fact,
seeing the freshman populations each year.
As far as selectivity goes, it seems like anyone who lives in the state
of Georgia gets in, with a full ride state scholarship on top of it.
Let's face it, Georgia is like 48th in the country for education, so
even the "top" students who qualify for the HOPE scholarship aren't
much compared to a typical top private school applicant. The incoming
class is always very large and very mixed, but by the end of the first
year, most of the bottom half have been weeded out.
