The housing for FAU was absolutely horrible. The dorms were run down,
and some even resembled prisons. There were quite a few break-ins even
though they had plenty of on-campus police giving tickets. Where were
they when you had to walk to your car in pitch black conditions? The
campus was not well lit. I did not feel safe leaving my night classes
even when I was walking out with a friend. Another issue, the condition
of the buildings. The College of Business is finally under renovation.
When I was a student, the elevators were always broken, and we did not
have air conditioning on many occasions. I live in South Florida where
it is very warm especially in the summer, it was medically unsound to
conduct summer classes without proper venilation. This happened way too
often. Then there was the leaking roof situation. South Florida has
quite a rainy season, and there were always enormous puddles in the
building, many people slipped before they brought out the yellow caution
signs.
