| Full-time undergraduate program |
Obviously, Dartmouth is well-known and considered prestigious, but this should
not be the only reason why you are considering Dartmouth. Like I said, at
Dartmouth you will be expected to work diligently on your studies, because
prestige alone will not get you a job when you graduate. Campus recruiting is
wonderful if you're interested in economics -all the major firms out of NYC come
to the undergraduate school, and many students are chosen. Even students with no
economics experience are able to get these internships and jobs, and should go
for them even if they're not sure about what they want to do later on.
Unfortunately, there isn't too much in the way of other internship and job
opportunities outside of financial and consulting firms. Upon graduation, it
seems that the majority of seniors either got these types of jobs, or they went
to graduate school right away for law, medicine, computer science, etc (many top
grad schools, by the way). If you are not interested in economics or finance,
you can easily find yourself left out in the cold and you may have to appeal
directly to the employers themselves as it seems that few other types of
employers want to trek through the Boston area (bypass Boston U, Harvard, and
MIT) to get to Hanover, New Hampshire.
