| a truly liberal arts A.B. |
Straightforward admissions process, with encouragement to participate in
alumni interviews. Outstanding SATs certainly a plus, but focused on
identifying well-rounded candidates who excel in athletics, arts,
community service, and student government. Particularly interested in
candidates who will bring exceptional uniqueness and diversity to
student body, who also possess the usual outstanding credentials.
Extremely competitive, but fair in giving equal weight to all aspects of
candidates' development and personal achievement. Surprising fair and
generous and affordable financial aid policy which is truly based on
overall needs. Reasonable portions of parents' assets and income are
allocated, as are expected out-of-session contributions from candidates
themselves. The remaining needs are met by a combination of affordable
student loans and work-study jobs with relatively small time
commitments, with the balance offered in outright grants. Many middle-
income candidates have over half their overall college costs covered by
outright grants, which are made possible by the College's outstanding
endowment and the continued generosity of a very active alumni.
