Admission & Application Survey |
| Full Time |
The process is getting more and more competitive each year. The
university has become much more focused on recruiting and luring
extremely high caliber students instead of attracting a certain "type"
of student who has gone here in the past, possesing these qualities:
white, upper-crust, New England, connected. The average SAT score has
risen to almost 1400. Colgate endeavors to become a top liberal arts
school in the league of Amherst and Swarthmore, although its reputation
is and has historically been excellent. To get in, it is necessary to
show yourself special and unique in some area that is not traditionally
representative at Colgate. The arts is a good example of one of these
areas. I highly recommend interviewing here although its not required,
because by doing so, you will show the admissions office you are
serious about applying (just travelling to Colgate is an investment in
time and money- it is one of the most remote colleges in the country),
and it will build personal relationships in admissions that are
important to seeing if you are a "fit" to the school- and vice versa.
