Bucknell is situated in Lewisburg, a rural town in the heart of Central
PA. No big cities, plenty of farmland and rolling hills. Bucknell takes
full advantage of its picturesque setting and has created a truly
beautiful campus. The sunsets from the academic quad are quite
memorable. The dorms vary, most are comfy and have character, but I'm
sure if you dislike your roomate enough, any size room can feel not big
enough. The facilities on campus are constantly being renovated or
upgraded. A new athletic center was just completed a few months ago. The
neighborhood is safe and has a self-contained feeling, which Bucknell is
trying to make even more so. There is plenty of interesting things to
explore in the Cental PA area, including State College (home of Penn
State), Amish farmers' markets, Bald Eagle State Forest, even the
largest pile of anthracite in the world, left over from the coal mining
past of Pennsylvania. There are a few good restaurants within walking
distance, including the Highlands Pub, founded by two members of the
class of 2001 and offers a huge selection of beer and celtic fine
dining.
