I deferred for 2 1/2 years. 3.97 GPA, 33 ACT. I wrote 1 essay for general admittance and 2-3 more for the scholarships. One of the scholarship essays was a critique of a writing passage. Another was on my goals and ambitions. I wrote what I felt and thought without trying to spin it too much. Admissions committees can spot ungenuine writing quickly. BYU is getting more and more selective in admitance, and even moreso to extend scholarships.
