Housing was pretty decent. The upperclassmen almost all get singles in
suites, which is the best. However, I really lucked out, and some
students in my year did not get housing and had to move off campus
(They are in the process of building new dorms, so there shouldn't be a
problem in the future). There is plenty of affordable housing in the
Waltham area, but you need a car to live off campus. I didn't have a
car for the four years and lived on campus, and I got along fine. The
public transportation is a convenient way to get into Boston (commuter
rail, bus, the T-from Newton), and the school offered a free shuttle
bus that picked us up from clubs in Boston at 3AM (that was a great
perk!) Facilities services were very responsive. Brandeis is pretty
safe overall, but be careful not to get lulled into a false sense of
security. There were some petty thefts on campus. The food (Aramark) is
decent, especially with the all-points plan, which allows practically
unlimited runs to the convenience store.
