BU is a big school. You have to make it small by finding community
within it. Many people don't like how it doesn't have a campus feel. But
it's changing. They're building a Student Village which will be the
center of campus activity. It sounds promising and everyone is looking
forward to it. Housing is varied. There are lots of different part of
the campus to choose to live in--all with their own positives and
negatives. Warren Towers is the freshman zoo, The Towers is a quieter
and smaller version of the dorm building where many sophomores choose to
live after the zoo. Living on Bay State road in one of the cozy
brownstones is an excellent choice. There are shared kitchens but no one
uses them. Everyone uses the dining halls in Warren or The Towers. But
you get less community in a brownstone on Bay State. There is South
campus--apartments with kitchens and living rooms, etc. that have no
dinging hall for you to eat at. MOstly reserved for seniors who want to
feel like they're not living in dorms. West campus old dorms are just
big buildings of dorms. Nothing special. The NEW dorms in West campus
are gorgeous. Luxurious. I cannot say enough about them so just imagine
living in a luxury building with great amevities like gym and snack
shops in the lobby and you get the idea. Hard to get into. And much more
expensive. All dorms are pretty much on campus.
