The social life at Babson is a little different than at big schools.
There is definitely a Greek presence at Babson, but participation is
less than at larger schools, mainly, I believe, due to the fact that
Babson is a small school and pretty easy to meet most of the folks on
campus without having to join a fraternity or sorority. The school has
one bar, called "Rogers" after the founder. It is open M-F starting at
4:00 and is a good place to grab a beer and hang out with friends. On
Thursday and Friday nights it is pretty hopping and there is often a DJ
or band playing. Drinks are reasonably priced, and all students are
allowed in, although only those of age can drink. There is also a pool
table and other games in the back of the bar in a separate area from the
bar/dance floor.
The Student Center has a variety of food available for those who do not
want to eat at the campus dining hall. The school has many clubs for
students to participate in and there is something for everyone. While a
student, I was part of the Admissions Assistants Program and volunteered
my time giving campus tours. I was also part of the Marketing Club,
Cardinal Key Honor Society and on the Womens Volleyball Team.
Usually one night during the weekend, one of the various organizations
on campus will sponsor an on-campus party with some kind of food and
entertainment. Alcohol was only served to those 21 and over, but there
were lots of other drinks available, and often pizza would be
delivered. A DJ or band wasn't uncommon as the entertainment. As a
student, I rarely left campus as the social life on campus was fun and
didn't require any kind of transportation arrangements.
