We were asked to secure application forms from the main college. With
this, we filled out quite a lengthy application form, which even
required asked to write an essay on "How we can be a man/woman for
others," which is basically the philosophy of the Atenean (Man for
Others). We then sent in the completed application form personally, and
got our test schedules. My advice is to request for the schedule on the
later days, so you can get a feel of how it went through the others who
took the test too. Plus this gives you more time to prepare since the
ACET is no easy college entrance exam. Ateneo looks into your extra-
curricular activities as well (they ask for this in the application
form), so it would help a lot if you're pretty well-rounded in high
school. Test results come via mail 5 months after the entrance exam.
Ateneo also posts the list of acceptees in Xavier Hall, the main
building's lobby. There are no more interviews. Once you get that
acceptance letter, you're in! I'd advice everyone who's interested
inapplying for the Ateneo to study a lot for the entrance exam and get
lots of rest before it. Plus, it would be great if you already build an
impressive high school background (which should be truthful of course!)
to help give the "judges" an idea of how well-rounded a person you are.
For the essay, I reviewed some information about Ateneo because I
obviousy didn't know then what being a man for others meant. I was able
to apply some learnings onto the essay, and I think it turned out pretty
well.
