Social life is generally centered around parties on campus. Although TAP
(a weekly party sponsored by the social council) has been curtailed to
the point that there is generally only a "TAP" party every few weeks or
so, the social council sponsors a lot of events, some of which are
well-attended.
There is a bar scene, but most bars in town are very strict about ID's,
so it is generally restricted to seniors.
As part of the Five College Consortium, there is free bus service to the
other four colleges (which are anywhere from 5-40 minutes away by bus).
Students often go to parties at other schools, especially Smith and Mt.
Holyoke.
There is an underground greek system that tends to host fairly prominent
parties every month or two, but in general it has very little influence
on social life- I would say no more than 4-5% of guys on campus are
involved with the frats, which are officially banned by the college, by
the way.
