Job Responsibilities
Captain of Airbus A320 passenger airline. Flying passengers in USA, Caribbean destinations and test pilot for acceptance of new aircraft in Toulouse, France. Delivery of Airbus from factory in France to USA.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Aeronautics. Minor in Business law. Spent several years flying for charter and mail contract carriers. Flew for smaller regional airline prior to being hired with major US airline. Ongoing training and education throughout my 35 year career in new technology equipment and Crew Resource Management.
Uppers
Everything about this job is excellent. If you don't like being away from home at least half of a month, you may not like this career.
Downers
Some time away from home and family. Rigorous training and competency evaluations ongoing throughout each year. Medical examinations required to keep pilot certificate current. These events can be taken as bet your job situations dependant on your successful demonstration of capabilities regularly and maintaining excellent health under unusual lifestyle situations.
