Job Responsibilities
As a yoga instructor my responsibilities are very strait foreward, but very difficult to achieve. Yoga is a lifelong search for inner peace mentally, that is attained by breaking through physical barriers. Time spend practicing can very from ten minutes a day as a way of relieving stress or regaining focus, to several hours of strenuous practice trying to gain a new level of mental clarity through physical advancement.
Job Requirements
Yoga is a trade, so like all trades it requires experience rather than formal education. The more time spent practicing the better you become at relaying that experience on to others. Becoming a certified yoga instructor takes years of practice and discipline. If you wish to be taken seriously you must train at a well known school. Yoga as a teacher or student will have a profound effect on all aspects of your life physically, mentally, and spiritually, making it a very rewarding line of work. As we are now living in the age of experience, people are looking for ways to take charge of their lives in a hands on manner, and yoga is one of the best ways to do this. health and wellness is also fastest growing market in the world which means it has never been easier to get involved in yoga, either as a student or a teacher. As far as workload goes, the more you let yoga into your life the easier life seems to become. What more could you ask for in a career.
Uppers
The best part about being a yoga instructor is helping people change their lives and watching those changes unfold in front of you.
Downers
I personally have no regrets about being a yoga instructor, I truly cannot find anything that I would change about the job.
Lifestyle
From the moment I wake up, to the moment I shut my eyes at night I am incorporating yoga in my life. It changes the way you breath, the way you think, the way you stand, sit, eat, talk. Yoga is a lifestyle, not just a job. I plan on broadening my workplace. I would like to practice yoga instruction around the globe, although no travel is necessary. The dress code for yoga is whatever you feel comfortable enough to practice in. Yoga is for anyone and everyone. It allows all fitness levels, physical and mental diversities. If you wish to become involved in yoga, you can, it is that simple. Most important of all, have patience. Becoming a yoga instructor will not happen over night, but once you have yoga in you, it will never leave.
Compensation
Yoga instruction can be a very well paying profession. As an instructor you can set your own hourly rate of pay within reason and based on your experience. Teaching classes can provide even better compensation, based on the amount of people in the class and the cost of classes.
Advice to Jobseekers
Be patient, before you can become a teacher, you must become a student. Yoga is a lifelong journey, don't try to rush it. Yoga is one of the most stable professions you can have. It has been around for thousands of years and it is not going anywhere.
