Uppers
High-level exposure, Great pay, Contribution to society by virtue of preventing
major fraud and/or terrorist activities
|
Downers
Long hours, detailed work, unreasonable expectations sometimes,
finding fraudulent activity by people you expect to be
trustworthy
|
Lifestyle
10-12 hour days common, travel to client locations both local and distant
common, sometimes months away from home when working on specific assignments,
dress code generally business casual, but requires top-notch dress when meeting
with top executives or board members, socialization depends on size of
assignment, diversity pretty good since dealing with major corporations/government
|
Compensation
Most assignments are from 4 to 6 months, longest assignment
recently was 18 months. Pay generally on an hourly basis--varies
from $85 to $125/hour depending upon location and the rate your
company is billing you out at--means that you can clear $150,000
to $275,000 annually depending on economy/demand

Advice to Jobseekers
Probably will be a growth field in the future--but takes a lot
of education and experience to qualify. My other piece of
advice is that this is not for someone who is looking to settle
down in one place with a family--it's better for either someone
who likes the single life--or whose kids are grown up and now in
college or othewise out of the house.
