Job Responsibilities
Regulatory advice and filings for energy and consumer products companies.
Job Requirements
I attended the evening program and the curriculum for it was very prescriptive. Options existed only during the summers. I must admit that the prescriptive curriculum proved very well with respect to preparation for the bar exam.
Uppers
Clients respect our opinion and the research can be fun.
Downers
People tend to call on attorneys only when things have already gone awry. If you are the type of person who expect things to "go as planned" all the time, you need to re-think your desire to become an attorney.
Lifestyle
Advancement and compensation have allowed me and my family to travel more than I ever thought possible.
Compensation
Starts at over six-figures. I think entry-level associates in all of our domestic offices start near $130K. Bonuses are very generous in my opinion, assuming the threshold level of billable hours are met. Medical benefits are standard, but come at a high rate for a family plan.
Advice to Jobseekers
Job outlook is very good. When the economy is hit hard (i.e., post-9/11), the need for legal services took a slight dip, but that perturbation was minimal as compared to other industries.
