Job Responsibilities
While working at the Magic Kingdom, I was a character
performer/park greeter. Working 8 hours a day, 20 minutes of
working-40 minutes of break. Seems strange, but when you're in
a fuzzy hot costume, 20 minutes in the sun seems like a lot
longer.

Job Requirements
Training was very specific and very informative. Not only did I
receive training on Disney in general, but the park specific
training was fantastic, especially for any Disney buff.
|
Uppers
Best parts about my job was the fact that I worked for the largest vacation
destination in the country, while making so many people happy.
|
Downers
The pay was not very good. I was a college student, but there
were other people there in their 30s or 40s making $6.50 an hour
as well. Tourism, espeially WDW is not known for it's high pay,
which makes it hard to do it as a career.
|
Compensation
Very low compensation with lots of opportunity for extra hours.

Advice to Jobseekers
rethink any moves to Orlando to work for Disney, if you need to
make $$. It is somewhat expensive to live in Orlando, and with
the little money you make at Disney, you won't have the nicest
of living situations. However, if you can get into the company
in an upper level position, you MIGHT make enough money to have
mac and cheese on the dinner table. very unfortunate that such
a large company that so many people want to work for, will not
pay enough to live on. That's why so many people do it for
the "love of their job" instead of the pay.
