Job Responsibilities
My main responsibilty is customer service and making sure I can answer all the customers questions and find the product that they are looking for if we have it. If we don't have it I try to find a store/location that they can get the product. I also zone(making sure the product is in the right spot and looking nice), doing risers(making sure anything on the top shelf is full down on the shelves that customers can reach), and putting products that come in on a truck out on the floor and making sure if the product is out that we can fill it from the back room. I also cashier when they need help up at the front. You need to be a people person to deal with many different kinds of people and be polite.
Job Requirements
There is nothing that is required to do this job as requirements
Uppers
The best part of my job is that there are many stores in a small area and that if you move you can always relocate. You can also be moved to a different store for whatever reason you have.
Downers
Sometimes you get asked to do things from management and sometimes the management is not on the same page so you do get confused on what you should do or not do but you just need to let them know what was expected of you from other management and let them decide what you should do after that. Also you need to let things roll off your back with some of the customers they can be very rude at times and you just need to smile and say "Have a nice day and Thank you for shopping at wal-mart"
Lifestyle
You have many hours that you could work at any time. They really try to work with you on what you can do or not do. They do have a dress code in my area which includes not wearing jeans but from what I hear that isn't in every area. We also have company parties for many different holidays. You also have to wear a smock that isn't that pretty looking but that is to let customers know that you do work there.
Compensation
They normally start you off on at minimum wage whatever that is in the state that you are working in and you get a 90 day evaluation that raises your pay but then after that you get a pay raise every year at your anniversary which is the day you started. You do get to put some of your check in the stock before taxes are taken out and you also get medical benefits. You also can put a certain amount in a 401K whatever you would like to do at each paycheck.
Advice to Jobseekers
This is a good company to work for and you have a lot of opportunities to go higher in the company. You will get out of it as much as you put into it. It is up to you!!!
