Job Requirements
MBA and CPA preferred. Undergrad degree in finance, accounting
or business a minimum requirement. Having other certificates or
professional associations to add credibility is strongly
recommended
|
Uppers
Digging in to the numbers is the backbone of any company. In most
organizations, finance is where the buck stops and where the rest of the
organization looks to for hardcore answers.
|
Downers
You tend to be the company "police" having to oversee everything
and call people out if they aren't making their numbers.
|
Lifestyle
Long hours - 10 to 12 a day generally and many weekends. Very little travel but
that depends on the organization. Dress here is corporate casual with jeans on
Fridays. Diversity (ethinic) is weak - tends to be very caucasion. Lots of
deadlines.
|
Compensation
Base salary is $75,000. Bonus is discretionary and can be 10 -
15% given personal and company performance. Private company so
no options and benefits are pretty standard

Advice to Jobseekers
Job outlook is always good for finance. You can work anywhere
in the country. You have to be very detailed oriented and be
prepared to defend your analysis. You also have to play the bad
guy when you point out that someone isn't making the numbers the
company expects.
