Job Responsibilities
Managing a sales territory and a sales goal-
Making outbound phone calls to insurance agents who market our
products to their clients.
Daily I spend 50% of the time on the phone, and on the computer.
I spend the other 50% researching underwriting issues and status
of polices I have assisted the agents in my territory to sell.

Job Requirements
The people in my department have all kinds of degrees, you can
find just about any degree among the 50 consultants in my area.
Some of which have no degree and have years of comparable
experience instead.
My degree is 4 year in mass communications and I am currently
working on a second degree in nursing.

Uppers
The job allows flexability, I come in at different times and some days don't
take a lunch and leave early, etc. As long as I put in 8 hours a day the clock is
not watched too closely. I get to talk to a diverse group of people in several
different parts of the U.S.
I also work with a fun and loving group of people.
|
Downers
I have to be completely proactive. I am constantly inventing
what to do every day- I have to make everything happen. Very
little is reactive and I do a lot of cold calling.
|
Lifestyle
I already discussed the flexability of "flex time" as far as work hours in the
above section. There is business travel may 1-2 times per year. There are maybe 1
or 2 outside social events that official- many more "unofficial." Dress code is
business casual and jeans on Fridays. We are one bunch of fun loving crazy,
entertaining, laid- back sales people.
|
Compensation
the base salaries range according to how many promotions you get-
the base can range from 30-40K and commissions depend on the
sales in your territory and the company's compensation plan for
that year- it changes annually. There are great employee stock
purchase options available once per quarter.

Advice to Jobseekers
It really depends on what department you are in with our company
as to what you are subject to... Much of this company is
comprised of call centers who are closely monitored and have to
work set hours and will be micromanaged by phone and computer.
The insurance field will always be growing-unless the government
takes over we will always be getting insurance from outside
companies.
