Job Responsibilities
Speaking with students on the phone approximately 5-6 hours each
day - it doesn't sound like alot, but when you think that there
are other administrative tasks involved, this is a pretty big
day. Sometimes, I will juggle two calls at once, because I have
three lines. I walk students through the application process,
making sure that they understand how to apply to the college and
how to apply for financial aid. Once they are registered, I
help them understand exactly how to use the online program. I
am there for them all the way through the program - as I am with
the Associate's program, this means 20 months... they can be
talking with me 1 or more times a week.

Job Requirements
Although there are no specific requirements prior to hiring
regarding education, it is preferred that you do have a degree.
In addition, of course it is preferred that it is from our
institution.

Uppers
I love working with students - I have been here for two years and never do tire
of working with them. I love hearing the excitement of the first "A"...or
helping a student understand a difficult assignment.
|
Downers
Students that want to place the blame on me for not doing
assignments or logging in to the classroom - therefore they are
dropped from class - and end up owing money. I clearly go over
the rules in the beginning...asking over and over, does this
make sense, do you understand... It makes me sad when they do
drop, because I know that going to school was a dream.

Lifestyle
I work 6 am to 3 pm in a business casual atmosphere - It is a very diverse
community and acceptance is the key! We work in teams and care a great deal
about each other. There is a huge amount of competition between the teams to be
the best at helping our students. Benefits are great - vacation and sick time is
the tops! The company really cares about its employees. There is no travel - a
bonus! Education is offered FREE!!! If you really believe in helping people
achieve their dreams - this is truly the job for you - but be prepared to work
hard.

Compensation
Base salary is about $30K + to start with 10 sick days a year
and 2 weeks of vacation. There are stock options after a year
and the company does contribute to a 401K. How can it be any
better?

Advice to Jobseekers
The company is growing, growing, growing...There is tremendous
opportunity in this organization for someone who truly wants it -
but you have to be willing to work hard, be honest and really
like what you do - to be in it for the right reasons - to help
students.
