Job Responsibilities
Teach in classroom to RN, LVN, CNA about 50 - 75% of the time.
I help teach several certifications that nurses need to update
themselves.
I teach our CNA's two to four hours of education each mosth to
maintain their certification.
I prepare classes and maintain the documentation of completion of
classes as well. I have also instructed our LVN's and Radiology
Technicians IV therapy. I do a lot of the orientation for new
nurses and new graduates.

The most stressful times are when we have large classes of
nursing students coming as employees or the large group of new graduates we have
had at one time. We usually are busy in June and December when it would be nice
to have free time. Trying to find rooms where we can give classes.

Lifestyle
We work 8 hours five days a week. Dress code varies with the classes we are
teaching. We have to travel off site for most of our certification classes which
means we don't get some things done on that day. One has to be flexible in the
job because we may not have been scheduled to do something but we may need to
drop our work to help in a class because someone did not show up as they
promised. We have Asians from China, India and Fiji. We also have a Portugeuse
and Spanish population.

Compensation
Benefits are given as to days worked. Full time workers get full
benefits. One can choose to add family onto their coverage at a
portion of the cost. We have options for dental and vision. I am
not paid salary but per hour pay so extra hours receive
additional pay since I choose to work extra and get a bonus for
time over 80 hours per two weeks. Time and one half is paid for
holidays. As an educator, we have holidays off with additional
days because the office is closed extra days with a holiday.
Full time individuals receive two weeks of vacation which is
increased over time. Base salary is different depending on one's
experience in nursing. Stock in the company can be purchased
when one hits a certain age.

Nursing is a great job and Education is very rewarding as you see
nurses excell and become leaders within the organization.
