Job Responsibilities
as a drama teacher of k-8 i am resposible for various levels of teaching assignments with afull work load of 40 hour week my job is challenging and creative i organize my program according to my students abilities and thier needs we have twice a month professional development to aid the staff in dealing with current educational texts and policies
Job Requirements
one must have a bachelors degree and complete a masters level program within a certain period of time salary icrements are awarded based upon additional credits maximum being 30 above the masters

the best parts of the job are the benefits and the feedback i recieve from the children also the general freedom inpreparing and planning my program
Downers
due to extreme changes in the dept of education unfortunately at this time policies and politics have made my job regimented and unpleasant the hours are longer there is more accountability for teachers and more power for parents which makes teaching difficult i generally find due to alack of structure at home that i do more baby sitting as opposed to teaching also administration has become more difficult to work with as they are under pressure from the "higher ups"
Lifestyle
a teachers life is hectic requires a tremendous amount of energy depending on the school flexibility in personal business interfering with work could be a problem we are alotted 10 sick days and recieve an end of the year evaluation that is placed in our file no travelling is required except sometimes we are asked to report to different locations for workshops unfortunately dress code is not an issue for both the students and the staff
Compensation
the salary is excellent in comparison to the hours it is a city job therefore the benefits are wonderfull we have summer vacation and major holidays salary is on a sliding scale
Advice to Jobseekers
one would need to be deicated to children be able to be creative and flexible were not called magicians for nothing dont go in to this field for the money the job is both emotionally demanding and rewarding at the same time
