Job Responsibilities
My main job responsibilities is to take care and monitor the daily processing files from our merchants. Make sure they upload their files on time and our host system will process their files so that merchants will get their return files by end of the working day. Other jobs include keeping track and solving production issue, relating to credit cards. Customers will call in to our company call center and the operators will filter if the issue that customers raised are pertaining to human error or system problem. If it is a system problem, operators will then route the problems to our department. I will then log the problem down and laise with technology department to solve the problem. I will need to follow through every steps of the solution till the problem is solved. Thos oeprators in charged of the problem will be informed once the problem has been solved, so that they can laise with the customer. Another part of my job is to co-ordinate and execute User Acceptance Testing. I will work with our internal users to test system implementation and co-ordinate for a rollout to live environment (production). This is the work that I will be taking care of everyday. But most of the time I will spend most of my working hour in production tracking and solving production issue raised by customers.
Job Requirements
I have just graduated with a degree in commerce. All the while, I was a part-time student. Meaning working and studying at the same time. The number of classes is dependent on the number of modules I have enrolled per semester. If I enrolled for 2 modules that particular semester, I will have to attend 2 classes per week. Our lectures are usually part-time lecturers with proper qualifications. We have a small class so that there will be sufficient interactive within the class. Usually i will not have problem getting to know my classmates as we need to form into groups for our assignment. Usually the group size will be between 3 to 4 students per group. All our tutorials and assignments will be graded by the lecturers in our australia university. Even our exam papers are graded by them.
Uppers
The best part of my job is that I can intereact with different level of management. My colleauges are always willingly to teach me and guide me in my work. If there is anything that I am not sure, I can always easily approached them. They are always willing to share their knowledge and experience, that really makes my working environment very condusive and I can also learn alot of things during my stay with my current company.
Downers
The worst part about my job is that we tend to work late everyday as our unit is very small (consist of only 7 people) and we have to handle alot of other departments users. Therefore sometimes people will complain about us, saying that we are not doing our work fast enough and is wasting their time. But they must also understand that we are not only solving their problems, there are hundreds of other people that will approach us for help and consults us too.
Lifestyle
Work usually starts at 8.30am, but because we usually work late, their they are quite open as to what time we come in for work the next day, but usually not later than 9am. My position does not need me to travel overseas for business but I have the priviledge to attend courses conducted by our other branch in other country. Our company also takes good care of the employee welfare. Usually, there will be a event for the whole operation team, to build up the team morale and team building. My company also knows that as we usually stay late for work, therefore has less time with our family, therefore once a while, the company will organize events for families to participate or our bosses will organised an event, which our families are invited too. Dress code for our company are quite standard. Monday to thrusday are formal office wear and friday will be a casual office wear for us. We do not work on saturday.
Compensation
my basic salary are quite attractive, compared to other companies. But as I am on contract terms, i do not enjoy the priviledges such as bonuses or stock options. My priviledges are the normal perm staffs annual leave, which is 14 days and also medicial reimburesment. Also if i work late, i can claim for meal and transport reimburesment.
Advice to Jobseekers
In my job scope, you will learn alot of things. Like my ex- supervisor always tell me, this job, anyone can do it, but it is how you handle the job is the difference. Becasue we deal with all level of people from different departments and with different requirement, therefore we need to be versatile and people management is very important in order for us to get our job done fast and without any hitch. When you first join, thry to build a rapport with other departments people becasue you will need their help in your work everyday. Therefore building a rapport with them is very important.
