Job Responsibilities
Sales...that is the major function of a strasburg children
manager. Every single item sold MUST be IRONED or STEAMED, so a
lot of time is used for this preperation. The store manager is a
glorified key holder with no major responsibilties.

Job Requirements
No upper level education required for Strasburg Children store
manager. High School only and some sales experience.
|
Uppers
I enjoyed helping customers achieve their goals of finding the "perfect" special
occassion garment for their event... i.e., wedding, baptism, communion,
pagents... etc.
|
Downers
Long hours alone in the store. Due to poor payroll hours given
by home office managers as well as associates are frequently the
only person in the store from open to close. Unable to take
breaks, including lunch periods and unable to utilze bathroom
when needed.
|
Lifestyle
Strasburg Children pushes the fact that lifestyle is important and thats how
they get you into the company. Hours are better than "normal" retail hours. Their
big event every year is to fly ALL store manager into Kansas for a Manager
Meeting where we are allowed to preview new collections. Meeting is more "cult
like" with tears of gratitude being shed from some individuals who say the
company has changed their lives.

Compensation
Extremely low pay for Store Managers; starting salary $30,000.00
can negotiate higher but wont last long with company. Bonuses
are based on sales of items priced at $19.99 and higher. Store
MUST hit monthly sales goal for team to qualify for bonus and
then the bonus is $0.50 given for every item sold at that price
point and divided by number of employees. Health benefits for
associate and family costs employee approx. $589.00 a month.
Company contribution is VERY POOR! For associate only about
$280.00 per month. NO STOCK OPTIONS company is not public.

Advice to Jobseekers
Buy a pair of running shoes NOT walking shoes and stay as far
away from Strasburg Children as possible! Company is chaotic and
deceitful. Not worth the energy to go through the motions of an
interview.
