Job Responsibilities
I transcribe documents through a dictation system and ensure the documet is correct the first time. If there are special projects, I do some of those (like making up treatment schedules, work schedules, typing up speech notes, etc.). I also do data entry for 1/2 day as part of my job duties. We are basically tied to our desks except for breaks, lunch, and potty time.
Job Requirements
If the newer hire are any example of what they're looking for is that they want "Barbie" dolls who have no common sense and doesn't know correct business letter writing methods. Most of the new hires can't even spell or use correct grammar. They are more concerned with hiring people who fall for their brainwashing techniques and who will live, breathe, eat, drink, sleep, dream, etc. the company 24/7. They are also concerned with 'HAVING FUN' in the workplace. I was taught "fun" is for after work with your family and friends and that you went to work to 'WORK'. I guess times are changing. BUT FOR THE WORSE NOT THE BETTER.
Uppers
The only upper I can think of is the pay (for the most part).
Downers
THE COMPANY IS TRYING TO CONTROL US 24/7 AND I DO NOT AGREE WITH THAT. THEY WANT US TO LIVE, BREATHE, EAT, SLEEP, DRINK, DREAM THE COMPANY 24/7 AND I WILL NOT DO THAT. They also want us to market their products and try to get everyone insured with State Farm and everyone to do their banking with State Farm. I will never have their products - that would be slapping a member of my husband's family in the face as he is an agent for another insurance company. I get better cost and better coverage - why would I switch to a company that charges outrageous premiums, has outrageous underwriting practices, and wants nothing but learning disabled, diverse, fags in the company.
Lifestyle
It started out to be an 8 - 4:30 job; however, they have made it mandatory to do shift changes and that interferes with my life as well as many, many other employees' lives. I WANT TO WORK 8 - 4:30 LIKE WHEN I WAS HIRED. They expect us to socialize with co-workers all of the time and I do not intend to do that as I have the kinds of friends I want outside the company. THIS COMPANY SUCKS BIG TIME IN EVERY MANNER. THIS IS THE WORST PLACE I'VE EVER WORKED. MANAGEMENT IS STUPID AND FALLS FOR ALL THE BRAINWASHING TECHNIQUES.
Compensation
NO STOCK OPTIONS, A SAVINGS AND THRIFT THAT INVESTS IN CRUMMY COMPANIES, DECENT ENOUGH PAY, LOUSY PAY RAISES UNLESS YOU ARE AT WORK EVERY DAY AND DON'T BOW DOWN AND LICK THEIR BOOTS, BENEFITS ACTUALLY SUCK (ONLY 7 HOLIDAYS) AND IF YOU TAKE MORE THAN 1 OR 2 DAYS OF THEIR GENEROUS HELPINGS OF SICK LEAVE THEN YOU ARE WRITTEN UP AND THREATENED WITH FIRING, THEY NEVER LEAVE YOU ALONE - THE ONES OF US WHO ARE OLDER THEY STILL WANT US TO TAKE CLASSES AND LEARN MORE EVEN THOUGH WE DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE COMPANY - ONLY THE PAYCHECK), THEY EXPECT US TO LIVE, BREATHE, SLEEP, DRINK, DREAM, ETC. THE COMPANY 24/7. THEY NEVER LEAVE US ALONE ABOUT YUKING IT UP WITH MANAGEMENT AND I THINK MANAGEMENT IS ENTIRELY BUILT ON SUCKING UP AND IF YOU DON'T, YOU IN A DEEP PILE OF SHIT.
Advice to Jobseekers
I WOULD ADVISE THEM TO GET OUT AS SOON AS THEY CAN - OR BETTER YET, DON'T START WORKING THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
