Job Responsibilities
I was responsible for the oversight of the delivery of services to the elderly and disabled enrolled in the state program to keep them out of the nursing home.
Job Requirements
There was only the requirement that you have some experience working with the elderly population and an undergraduate degree.
Uppers
The people and the hours were very flexable. You got to be very independent and it was nice to meet with the elders in their home every 3 months.
Downers
There was no upward mobility. Since the career prospects were not there, I went back to school.
Lifestyle
Work hours were really flexable. It was more a job for a 30-somethings or 40-ish women with kids at home. It was not really for the up and coming 20-somethings.
Compensation
The salary was high for coming right out of school, but low for the Boston area.
Advice to Jobseekers
Just know that helping people does not pay well, but it makes you feel good!
