Job Responsibilities
Lead and deliver projects and programs. Accountable and responsbile for project deliverables results. Manager projects in the multi-million dollars range. Manage group of indviduals (5-75) within the project timeline delivery. Responsbile to inform and update the executives of the company on the project progress. Responsible to secure funding through Governance for project initiation. Responsbile to assemble and negotiate project resources.
Job Requirements
Bachelor degree in engineering, IT, Finance or equivalent. Master Degree in Business, IT, Finance or Engineering, or equivalent is a plus. Professional Project Manager (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is strongly recommended. Education or training in project management is strongly helpful.
Uppers
Managing people, projects and programs. Delivering results in a time-constrained manner. Inventing solutions, resolving issues and managing risks are all uppers.
Downers
Many people and organizations do not understand project management and think it is a waste of time. Many people are used to doing things certain way and are opposed to change. Many executives have no clue what project management can do for them and do not promote it.
Lifestyle
Very demanding. Very stressful and a lot of pressure. Those in consulting positions, travel quite a bit. Requires lots of movement to contact people and to follow up on issues, action items, etc.
Compensation
Base Salary is $115K. Bonuses are = up to 16% and is dependant on the individual performance and the company performance. No stock options. Benefits are fine, including medical, 401k, good vacation plan and good no of sick days.
