Job Responsibilities
As it's a call centre there are a lot of calls to answer with customers having problems with their gas or electricity, from paying back debts and losing their electric key to having no supply and needing an engineer to call out. also we deal with the accounts that have a debt on them that shouldn't be there and we need to establish if the customers owe this debt for real.
Job Requirements
For this job they like you to be computer literate but that can be taught easily, they're really looking for a high level of customer service experience. The chance for career progresion is quite good but the competion to get the manager positions is quite tough.
Uppers
I thibk a good aspect for the job is - you can eat and drink at your desk, so when you have your lunch break you don't need to spend it having a meal, we're located near the town so many people pop into town to get some shopping done. Also, we work hard but it is a relaxed atmosphere, you can have a chat with friends as long as your getting a good amount of work done in a day.
Downers
My normal part of the job is not answering calls but just working on accounts with debts, but as we're sort staffed we all have to help on the phones, which is a pain, but it is a call centre so this is expected. overall, there isn't really any real bad parts about the job, but it is best suited to people who like being cooped up in an office all day.
Lifestyle
Hours are good, they vary slightly but mainly it's 9 - 5, monday to friday, the company is just in the process of re-opening their social club, which many people will go to, and they always holding some event like the summer ball. Dress code is excellent, they have got rid of it and we can just wear pretty much anything we like.
Compensation
The pay is good, we have a pay rise every year and for the first three years you get a performance related pay rise. Also there is a shares scheme, you buy company shares each month and however many you buy the company will match it.
Advice to Jobseekers
Not all call centres are as nice as this to work in, this one is quite relaxing. but if you like office work, it's warm, dry and you sit down most of the day, what more could you want?
