Job Responsibilities
applicate national sales conditions and or regional sales conditions Prospecting new clients (7-8 hours a week) merchandising (approximately 10 hours a week) negociation (approximately 15 hours a week) administrative work (5-6 hours a week) phoning (when having a spare time) to set appointments, make reports( all nature of reports: rival's conditions for example, obtained with the agreement of a client, prospecting in order to get an appointment) Fixing clients contentions (3-4 hours a week)
Job Requirements
Ideally, attending a busines school is the best by the variety and the nature of the classes. Nevertheless, it is not mandoatory to attend to. Specialized academic classes or professional classes are good to. The main carrer path is: sales representative during 2-3 years merchandising or sales training during 1-2 years sales field manager during 3-4 years trade marketing manager durung 3 years Key account manager global sales This is the way how a lot of lot of firms in this sector conceive the sales' career path. Each step is a different level in management
Uppers
clients contact, negociation, autonomy, possibility to self challenging (aim objectives and possibility to surpass oneself. A good vendor will always find a way to challenge oneself. Really a good position to start. In each day of our life we're all vendors for a reason or another. So would you be ready to be a professional???
Downers
the worst part is that the sales circuit is not complete in hypermarkets: that means that we do not create sales conditions but only apply it. And also that there's always a lot of merchandising to do. Working in that sector is not pure sales but sales and advice (to the clients to help them raise their sales)
Lifestyle
Concerning work hours, it is better not to wathch its clock: it is a demanding work that requires commitment. Dress code: tie and a suite but tie tends to diappear. On this paerticular point it depends who you represent: if you're in cosmectivs and/or fashion, it is better to wear one because in hypermarkets clients are conservative and are obliged to wear ties, this is a way to gain sympathy. The important point is to be always enthusisatic. Before having interviews, ask yourself if you are made for this: travel, nights outside, be prepared to have no routine office etc... If yes, go for it!
Compensation
base salary: 26.000$ bonuses: 11.000$ no stock options health insurance, car
Advice to Jobseekers
I do believe that this job is not as easy as it seems: moving around, having a car, being autonomous... You work as a part of a team but you have to be autonomous and able to be as rigorous as posible to justify your activity, what you are going to do and how. So if you feel you are reeady for it! Do not hesitate!! But really ask yourself if you are made for that kind of life.
