I AM THE PRESIDENT AND OWNER OF A SMALL BUSINESS. I AM
RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OPERATIONS, MANAGEMENT, SALES, MARKETING, AND
SUCCESS OF THE BUSINESS. IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO BREAK DOWN
EACH OF MY RESPONSIBILITIES TO A "PERCENTAGE OF TIME SPENT PER
WEEK" FIGURE. BUT, OVERALL 50% OF MY TIME IS SPENT SCREENING
CANDIDATES AND THE REMAINDER OF MY TIME IS SPENT INTERACTING WITH
CLIENTS AND GENERATING ADDITIONAL BUSINESS (SALES & MARKETING).

I SET MY OWN SCHEDULE. I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SUCCESS OR FAILURE OF MY
BUSINESS. I CAN PICK AND CHOOSE WHICH PROJECTS AND CLIENTS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO
WORK ON AND WITH. I MAKE MY OWN SCHEDULE.

PAY THEIR INVOICES ON TIME.

THE RECRUITING INDUSTRY REQUIRES SOMEONE WITH AN ORGANIZED AND DETAIL ORIENTED
LIFESTYLE. YOU MUST BE AN EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATOR AND ENJOY SPEAKING ON THE PHONE
AND INTERACTING WITH PEOPLE ON A VARIETY OF LEVELS. THE WORK HOURS ARE FLEXIBLE.
ESSENTIALLY, YOU GET OUT OF IT WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT. AS AN EFFECTIVE RECRUITER
I HAVE FOUND THAT YOU CAN WORK A STANDARD 35 HOUR WORK WEEK AND STILL BE VERY
SUCCESSFUL. AS FOR BUSINESS TRAVEL, SOMETIMES CLIENTS WILL ASK YOU TO SCREEN
CANDIDATES IN THEIR GEOGRAPHIC AREA. IT IS A GOOD RULE OF THUMB TO ALWAYS VISIT
A CLIENT AND GET A SENSE OF THE WORK ATMOSPHERE AND ENVIRONMENT. SO - WHEN A
CLIENT IS IN CALIFORNIA AND YOU ARE IN NEW JERSEY, YOU GET ON A PLANE AND HEAD
OUT WEST. RECRUITIING IS A GREAT CAREER FOR FOLKS THAT ENJOY MEETING AND
INTERACTING WITH PEOPLE FROM VARIED CULTURAL BACKGROUNDS AND ACADEMIC AND
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES. BECAUSE ALOT OF RECRUITING IS PERFORMED VIA PHONE AND
INTERNET, WE DON'T HAVE A STANDARD "DRESS CODE" FOR OUR OFFICE BUT, IT IS ALWAYS
PROFESSIONAL IN THE EVENT A CANDIDATE OR CLIENT STOPS BY FOR A MEETING OR OFFICE
VISIT.

Compensation
MY RECRUITERS EARN 50% OF EACH SUCCESSFUL PLACEMENT THEY
COMPLETE. WE WORK ON A COMMISSION BASIS SO THERE IS NO BASE
SALARY OFFERED TO OUR RECRUITERS. GENERALLY, OUR PLACEMENT FEES
RANGE FROM $10k TO $30k SO A RECRUITER CAN MAKE A GOOD LIVING BY
PLACING 10 TO 15 CANDIDATES PER YEAR.
