Troubleshooting DSL connections 8 hours a day. Dealing with ILEC, resellers, and
all levels of the company itself.

Interesting, varied, challenging. Uses a variety of different talents and
skills. Employer empowers employees to "own" the issues they're dealing with.

Not enough money, hours are too long; still too regimented and stressful in
spite of employer efforts to minimize pain and suffering.

Lifestyle
Business casual, can be required to work up to 45 hours a week, shiftwork.
Start on a contract basis and then most likely hired full time within 6 months.
Benefits. More schedule flexibility after staying at the job for a year or so.

Compensation
$10 hour plus benefits, holiday pay, various incentive bonuses and prizes.

Advice to Jobseekers
It's hard work for not much money, but better work than lots of other positions
that are more boring and horrible and pay less. These tech support positions are
being outsourced to places like India and the prospects in the future don't look
that good for North Americans. The only reason I'm still working is because the
best paying customers don't like dealing with agents who don't really speak or
understand English fully.
