Making the world a better place, helping people who really need help, meeting an
incredible cross-section of people (homeless families, elected officials, policy
researchers...), learning about new issues/organizations/approaches.

Don't get to see the long-term impact of our work because it's
consulting - you leave and sometimes they continue as
expected/planned, sometimes they don't, and sometimes you just
never know. Also it can be repetitive - projects may cover
different topics but basically the types of
activities/research/analysis you do doesn't change too much.

Lifestyle
Great field, great work environment and a field that's sure to
grow. If you're interested, it can't be beat.

Compensation
65,000 base salary, private company so no stock, no bonuses (we
work with government and nonprofits - there's not a ton of extra
cash running around). Benefits are standard for a smaller firm -
dental, health, 401k but no matching.
