Lifestyle
Nursing is a 24/24 job and as such, requires you to do shift work at some point
whether you like it or not! Most hospitals will be as helpful and flexible as
possible but remember there is a limit to this and you also have to consider your
collegues. Having said this, the world of nursing is expanding and jobs can be
found in the private sector in private clinics, medical centres, call centres,
pharmacies, goverment departments etc that do not require shift work. The
lifestlye that arises from being a nnurse is a great one! Time off during the
week when everyone is working, more annual leave than most jobs, penalty rates
for working weekends or public holidays.

Compensation
Base salary for my job is $54,000 AUD pus shift penalties which vary.

Advice to Jobseekers
Nursing is a very rewarding field both personally and
professionally. I would advise anyone considering nursing to research the
different universities offering Nursing degrees and choose the course that best
suits them. I encourage people to enter into the world of nursing for a variety
of reasons - excitement, joy, education, knowledge, diversity, experiences,
friendships, and the list can go on. The job prospects for nursing in Australia
are fabulous. When you are a nurse, you can
never be out of work. I love it and don't believe I could do any other job.
