Job Responsibilities
Major responsibilities include entering jobs in the database, signing them off and creating invoices. Also taking customer calls and directing them to the appropriate assistance.
Job Requirements
I have completed a certificate II in administration and am currently completing a certificate III in Legal administration. i try to finish the course two nights a week and i find the program very organised and well structured. although the wrkload is quite large and time consuming i am never pressured to finish, i am able to take some of the work home and do it in my own time.
Uppers
The best part about my job would have to be meeting new people. When i first started talking to people it was a bit hard but now they ring on a regular basis and it is nice to get to know people and be able to have a conversation with them on the phone. my job is also very relaxed and it is for these two reasons, why i looked forward to going to work.
Downers
I work for a small business and at times the phones can be a little quiet and this can mean that i become quite bored.
Lifestyle
I work from 8.30 to 5.00 (5 days a week)although we do not have social events and you do not get to travel there is a very relaxed atmosphere. there is no real dress code (no uniform) you just need to look neat and respectable. i know a lot of companies like mine who do have social events so don't that put you off, it is really a good job and lifestyle.
Compensation
Base salary is about $22,000 p/a, we receive a $200 christmas bonus and i am offered overtime when the technicians are busy on a large job and i go and help them at nights if they have a cut over.
Advice to Jobseekers
Receptionist is a great field although i am looking at going to a larger company, small companies definately have their benefits. we all rely on each other are very close and relaxed. when i finish my legal certificate i would like to look at working in a legal office because it would be busy, i would get paid more and it would be a lot more interesting. as a re ceptionist you get to meet a lot of really nice people and even deveop friendships with these people, that is one of its great rewards.
