Job Responsibilities
My largest responsibility as a real estate agent is forming
buisness relationships. This is important to recieve referrals
for business. Another important responsibility is working as an
advocate for your client. I always have to work in the best
interest of my client. Other responsibilties include marketing,
writing offers, managing documentation and driving around
clients to different prospective homes. I am also responsible
for the research on the last sale of the home, how much is owed,
how much other homes in the area are going for, and approximate
appreciation values.

Job Requirements
I enrolled in the real estate agent program at Hondros College.
I took the classes that would be finished in six weeks. The
classes were full of information. They were ten hours long, and
for four days per week. It required a lot of studying. All of
the professors were nice and informative.

Uppers
Best part of my job is that I do not have a boss. I make my own hours. I decide
which days/hours to work. I never get bored. Each day is different. The rush you
get from making a sale is incredible.

Downers
The worst part of my job is that I do not receive a consistent
pay. I am 100% commission paid. It is difficult during slower
months. You have to keep a strict budget. Another negative is
that you must jump at your clients request if you want to be
successful. If they want to make an offer on a home, you can/t
tell them to wait because you have $100 tickets to a show that
starts in an hour. The house they want could actually sell by
then!

Lifestyle
You need to have a very flexible schedule with little commitments to succeed in
real estate. When you get a call from a prespective buyer, you need to jump! As
soon as possible! You also need to get to know as many people as possible. You
want to get your buisness card out to anyone who has a hand and a pocket!
|
Compensation
Some make 20k in a year, some make it in a month! The sky is
really the limit with this field. There are usually no
benefits, insurance, and such within the companies. You usually
will have to go outside and pay for these services individually.

Advice to Jobseekers
This job can be very tough, and sometimes it can be a piece of
cake. There will always be room for agents. Brokers are
generally not choosy. It isn't hard to find one!
