Job Requirements
Most members of my facility have an extensive background in
military aviation. Typical training for myself included 2.5 years
of theory and 2 years practical on the job experience. However
like many roles you never stop learning. Career progression was
poor in my last role and my present position has nothing to keep
me interested. 10 years is plenty.

Uppers
Being able to outsmart a piece of hardware is very satisfying until you realise
that the problem you are chasing was simple when you gain hind sight. The people
are what makes a job. If you dont enjoy the members of your team get the heck out
of there.

Downers
Change in aviation is always slow unless it is an immediate
safety threat. If you want to change a proceedure, it has to pass
through many hands. Its a safety thing of course, but the
uppermost level of scrutiny should not be imposed on all levels
of tasks.

Lifestyle
I had very different hours and visited alot of exciting countries whilst serving
in the Royal Australian Navy. The lifestyle is the reason I left. Your body
shouldnt have to deal with 5 different time zones in one week and then be subject
to whether aircrew feel like going on a nav exercise at 2 in the morning.

Advice to Jobseekers
Any entry to miliatry aviation obviously should be sought through
the military. It doesnt take long for the system you are working
on to become obselete. I am currently working with technology
from the 60s and we are the only peopl ein the world who have not
put it out of sevice. not long now.
