Job Responsibilities
Major Responsibilities: 1) Clinically Supervise and Manage all full time and part time RN's, LPN's, Mental Health Technicians and Masters prepared counselors spanning 3 shifts, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Daily time committment of 2 hours. 2) Ensure consistent adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements (i.e., Joint Commission; Medicare; State Health Department). Daily time committment of 1 hour. 3) Provide direct clinical care (i.e., individual, group and family sessions) as needed. Weekly time committment of 2 hours. 4) Attend and lead twice weekly multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings to review the plan of care for all patients. Weekly time committment of 3 hours. 5) Attend hospital-wide meetings to include: Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Strategic Initiative Development and Referral Source Relations and Communication. Daily time committment of 2 hours. 6) Investigate and respond to all complaints or grievances made by patients, family members or referral sources. Weekly time committment of 2 hours. 7) Collect and aggregate data on patient satisfaction, staff call- outs, contract agency utilization, overtime, risk management occurrences and referrals to the outpatient continuum. Daily time committment of 1 hour.
Job Requirements
This position requires a RN with substantial training and experience in addictions OR a Masters Prepared Licensed Counselor with substantial (7 or more years) experience and training in addictions.

Downers Include: 1) High stress level, particularly as it relates to ensuring 24/7 coverage. Call-outs create significant problems that require immediate intervention regardless of the time of day. 2) Demanding and often times entitled employees tend to gravitate to addictions jobs. Many are "recovering" addicts who are not truly recovering.
Lifestyle
1) Work Hours - It is variable. Generally speaking the hours are from 8a - 5p. It is often necessary to go in as early as 5:00 am in order to have some uninterupted time to dedicate to administrative matters (reports, data analysis etc.). The work is truly never done. To prevent burnout and to be able to spend time with family a conscious decision to leave at a reasonable time has to be made. On call responsibilities are also included however it is rare that the calls require anything other than phone intervention. 2) Business Travel - Virtually non-existent. 3) Company Social Events - As a Senior Manager it is politically prudent to attend all company events. Such events occur 1-2x's monthly and include picnics, ball games, receptions, holiday parties, etc.). 4) Dress Code - Professional appearance required, as per Human Resources policy. (No shorts or T-Shirts, no visible tattoos or excessive piercings, no tennis shoes, no short skirts or low cut blouses). 5) Diversity - Diversity is highly valued. There is no tolerance for insensitivity or exclusion. All are respected and treated with dignity.
Compensation
Base Salary - $68,000. Bonuses - End of year bonuses are typically granted with the average amount being $1,000. Stock Options - None yet but likely to happen soon Benefits - Medical and Dental, Short and Long Term Disability, Life Insurance, Flexible Savings Accounts, Tuition Reimbursement, 401K with company match, Vacation and Sick Days accrued bi-weekly.

Advice to Newcomers: 1) Be prepared for high levels of stress in a fast paced, crisis oriented environment. 2) Be prepared to be on the receiving end of staff and patient complaints, wants or demands that may not always be realistic. 3) Be prepared to hold staff accountable for their actions and work closely with Human Resources to ensure progressive discipline methods are being followed. Job Outlook: 1) Very Good - Behavioral Healthcare isn't going anywhere. Inpatient units will always exist, despite managed care impediments.
