A masters degree is a must and almost considered table stakes for
this level of consulting.

Being able to solve problems for clients that they themselves are struggling to
overcome.

Downers
Being responsible for the entire lifecycle of a client engagement
from prospecting to delivery to back office functions.

Lifestyle
Travel is extensive, over 50% of the week. The hours are longer than a 40 hour
work week and you must be able to interact with people from all levels of an
organization. Dress code is dictated by the organization in which you are working.

Compensation
Expect a hourly rate range of $80-150 per hour.

Advice to Jobseekers
The workforce 2000 projected that more people would not be an
employee of a large corporation and that independents and
boutique firms would be the mode of this century. I am finding
this to be true. Make sure that you ready to travel extensively,
be able to absorb large quantities of information and systhesize
it to develop strategy and are able to juggle the front and back
office demands of consulting.
