Job Responsibilities
PAYROLL:
?? Gather data for time cards through Winstar Time keeping
system
?? Make corrections or additions to time cards
?? Input all new employee??s into the Winstar and BUBBA
computer systems
?? Make copies of employee??s information for credential
files and send to each nurse manager
?? Maintain spreadsheets with up-to-date information
regarding all employee??s payroll
?? Make sure all pay practices are being followed by all
employee??s
?? Calculate charge pay, travel pay, miscellaneous pay, and
retroactive pay
?? Calculate call back pay and adjust timecards accordingly
?? Keep employees and managers up to date on their current
benefit status regarding vacation, sick, holidays, and bonus days.
?? Enter new employee??s into Electronic Chart for lab
purposes
?? Assign employee badges
?? Enter FMLA??s and bill employee??s for insurance while out
?? Calculate new evaluation dates and vacation accruals when
employees have been on FMLA
?? Enter all termination, evaluation, and status change dates
?? Make copies of insurance documents and send to corporate
for new hires
?? Provide up to date pay rates for management
?? Maintain all employee personnel records for 6 facilities
?? Report taxes every payroll to the State of South Carolina
?? Compile data from various payroll reports in order to
report labor distributions to the State of South Carolina
?? Set up payments for garnishments from each payroll and
give to accounts payable to key
?? Set up all withholdings from payroll wages and maintain
that all bills are accurate before setting up for payments, then
give to accounts payable to key.
?? Complete state requested information from the employment
security commission
?? Run payroll reports and maintain payroll records for each
payroll
?? Coordinate with VALIC representative to make sure that
all employees have an opportunity to take advantage of our
retirement plan.
?? Submit Quarterly Wage Report to South Carolina
?? Gather and calculate call pay, Saturday pay, on call, and
charge pay; input data onto spreadsheet separating each week and
balancing before sending to corporate on payroll Monday to input
?? Process payroll checks biweekly
?? Assist employees with any personnel questions that may
pertain to payroll, benefits, taxes, completing banking and
lending documents, etc.
BUDGETS:
?? Input requested data from the budget department at
corporate
?? Explain monthly budget variances for 6 facilities
?? Research general ledger accounts in order to properly
explain variances
?? Print A/R reports to use for the analysis of variance
reports
?? Input income statement amounts to compute cost per
treatment for Spartanburg and East Spartanburg due to Acute Unit
and PD Department
?? Run Audit reports from general ledger to assist with
variance reports
?? Prepare and maintain documents for cost reporting purposes
?? Prepare and gather data for cost report
?? Aid in preparation and data gathering for all audits

The best part about the job is working with the people. You have to have
patience with the employee's because it is important that they get paid
correctly. They work hard and you should make it to where they do not have to
worry about getting paid incorrectly.

Downers
The worst part about payroll is that you know everyones salary.
This can be a problem when you see raises come across your desk
and you know that person does not do their job and then those
that work hard and are always at work do not get a full raise.
This part can be very frustrating but you have to remember that
you are not the boss and you cannot change things.

Lifestyle
This type of position requires you to be at work Monday through Friday with the
hours around 8:00am to 5:00pm. Business casual is usually the norm for dress
code.

Compensation
This position's salary is mid $30k. This does not include a year
end bonus of around $2k. Most companies usually have a
retirement plan that you can contribute to.

Advice to Jobseekers
You must have accounting background, which is some college.
Learn Excel and Word. This is very important. You must have
extremely high ethics. Payroll and budgets are confidential and
you must have a strong trait.
