Job Requirements
I was trained on the job, I have since taken some coding classes.
|
Uppers
I enjoy what I do, it can be a challange at times, but I like it.
|
Downers
Some accounts take a lot of detail, have to call to find out why
insurance didn't pay and sometimes you have to call the same
insurance company to get clarification, or call several
insurance companies. Illinois Medicaid has a lot of rules to
follow, as does Medicare.

Lifestyle
My hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, there isn't a lot of travel required, once in
awhile, I might go to a seminar regarding Medicare or Blue Cross, generally, my
supervisor attends those and fills us in. The dress code is professional, we can
wear nice slacks and shirts, no sandals in the Summer, but we can wear open-toed,
must have panty hose on. We used to have casual Fridays the fourth Friday of the
month when we could wear blue jeasn, but some people were taking advantage of
that, so that is no longer allowed. No capries in the Summer months.

Compensation
The salary at the facility where I work isn't that great. I've
been there six years and am not even making $10 an hour. For the
amount of research we have to do to get a claim paid, I should
be making a lot more.

Advice to Jobseekers
It's a good job, there are times when it's frustrating, but I
enjoy it.
