Job Responsibilities
I am the disty sales manager. I do all the price quotes for the
semiconductor lines we represent. That task takes at least 7 hrs
of my day. I am also responsible for quarterly reviews and training at
the distributors. I do track marketshare in the lines my rep firm
represents plus about 50 other major semiconductor lines in the
metro NY and northern NJ territories.

Job Requirements
I did my undergraduate work at Binghamton as an English and
creative writing major. My MA is in Secondary English and spescial
education.
I have a professional certificate in Educational ASdministration.
To help me in my present job, I have taken courses in Exel, Word,
Powerpoint, and Access

Uppers
The best part of the job is travelling to each of my distributors-17 in all and
working with their management and salespeople.

The downer is the number of reports we have to do.

Lifestyle
I work generally from 7:30 A.M to 6:00 P.M. I get up at 5:30 AM to download my
emails. We do our reports at night or over the weekend.
I wear a shirt and tie during the work week. We do travel infrequently for sales
training. Much of it is now done via WEB EX
or long distance learning.

Compensation
My salary is 70K per year-no commission. We get quarterly bonuses
if the company as a whole does well. We have a 401K plan, but it is
not matched by the employer. We do have a medical and dental
plan-the company pays for the individual who works here, and we
pay for our family.

Advice to Jobseekers
I think that they should make sure they proficient in computer
skills such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. They should be a closer
in sales. The job outlook though is shrinking as mfg reps for
semiconductors is shrinking due to companies combining.
