Job Responsibilities
My responsibility is to oversee the following objectives:
To provide a 99.99% quality steam to a 230 Mega-watt capacity
Geothermal Power Plant, including the re-injection of Geothermal
Fluids back to the under ground levelreservoir, in order to
replenish its geothermal water supply without contaminating the
environment.
To materialise these resposibility, an air plant is maintained
that housed two air compressors (operating on alternate
schedule), that supply compressed air(about 120psi) to pnuematic
conrol valves that is automatically operated by computers
(advance control modules) in order to automate its operations.
An electric generator is also housed in the Utilities area, as
an electrical back-up, in case of some abnormality that may
occur in the power plant. These generators supply electric power
to the compressors, so that the pnuematic automation in the
field is maintained, including its computer process stations
that commands the automatic operations of the control valves and
other plant accessories/auxiliary equipment.

Job Requirements
The educational attainment is a five year course of Bachelors
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (w/ govenment qualifying
liscensure examination). Inherent to this course is a mastery of
fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and power plant engineering.
Another discipline that must be prepared is the back ground of
internal combustion engines (for the generators) and
instrumention engineering for the automation.

Uppers
My job is a public service that is indespensable to the economic and industrial
advancement of my country. Its good to be of service to my country and my people.

Downers
You are exposed to the harsh elements of the enviroment,
including its wild life during routine roving inspections in the
field especially at night time. Including its industrial hazards
(although very seldom), like steam explosions due to pipe leaks
and falling down from huge equipment, during repairs and
inspections.

Lifestyle
You are required to work on shift schedule all the year through. That means you
will have to work on holidays (including Christmas) if your schedule falls on
these days. We work 8 hours each day, straight for 9 days and then spend 6
dyas-off on regular working cycle. Our company offers free expenses seminars and
even travel abroad like New Zealand, Japan or Ice Land to take a work related
education. We are required to constantly wear our working helmets, gloves, safety
shoes, suitable working clothes (to prevent injuries like scalding due to high
temperature pipelines) and ear protection devices. You'll see the beauty of the
nature a lot! And appreciate the wonders of God's creation all the time.

Compensation
Our salary is higher compared to the standard pay of our
country's standards. We have a night compensation for our night
shift duties, hazard pay for the industrial and environmental
hazards (15% of the basic salary). free meals during overtime
and free snacks every time we are on duty. We have a yearly
increase in basic salary, base on your performance on the job
with more than 10% minimum increase base on your current basic
pay.

Advice to Jobseekers
A computer literacy is also a must in this job. You have to
master your basic sciences subjects (especially physics) to be
admitted on this job. This job althougth very specified in its
field, it requires basic knowledge in engineering for you to
easily adopt to its pressures and keen observation on some
sudden changes, so that you could easily detect equipment
defects and malfunctions during routine inspections and
activities especially during night time.
