Job Responsibilities
I work 40-50/week spending time looking for the best sites on
which my clients should advertise and negotiate the rates. I
present to the client as well as optimize these campaigns.

Job Requirements
In advertising, it helps to know someone. Also, the majority
have a degree from a 4 year college. If you don't know anyone,
just take a job to get your foot in the door. A lot of people
start at reception. Or, better yet, get an internship while in
college.

Uppers
Lots of perks in media - free meals, movie tickets, concerts, clubs, etc. If you
work offline, you get free magazines. The hours are pretty good as well. And, the
office i work in is really great.
|
Downers
It can be repetitive and clients can be very annoying.
|
Lifestyle
Lifestyle here is great. Again, i work 40-50 hours/week but you can end up
working a lot more. I do not travel much for business. Also, there are a lot of
work functions. The environment is very casual (jeans and tshirts are fine) which
makes it nice. There is diversity in advertising, but not a lot. I think it tends
to attract a yuppy crowd. Unless you work on the creative side. that is more
diverse.

Compensation
Pay is OK in advertising. Because you have a nice lifestyle,
they don't feel the need to really compensate. Bonuses are small
ubt benefits are good and there are stock options.

Advice to Jobseekers
If you feel like you want to do something, ask. That goes for
projects, raises, promotions, ect. Don't just sit there waiting
for someone to give it to you - ask for it. A lot of times women
are afraid to do that. Don't be!
