Job Responsibilities
As a CopyMax Associate, I performed a variety of tasks: copying,
desktop publishing, binding, editing etc. The tasks varied
depending on the day and the customer's needs.

Job Requirements
There was no academic nature in this program, so my biology
degree was completely wasted at this job. However, you do learn
some applicable skills like desktop publishing and copying.
|
Uppers
The best part of this job was that you could do a lot of the work while the
customer was not present. It cut down on a lot of the stress of the customer
standing there staring at you while you are working.
|
Downers
The worst part of this job was dealing with the customers. I
worked in Westlake, Ohio which is an upperclass city. The
customers treated you like you were stupid, and I had a serious
problem with that. It's difficult to keep your temper and to
not have a sharp reply.
|
Lifestyle
The work hours for this job were decent. The store was open from 8-9 so you
weren't at work especially early or especially late. However, you never had a
constant schedule and you could close one night and then open the next morning.
Other than that, it's your typical retail job.
|
Compensation
The compensation was about par with industry norms. In CopyMax,
we got bonuses for meeting certain sales goals which was really
nice. Your salary is commesurate with experience.

Advice to Jobseekers
I would not take this job unless you were really desperate for a
position. The job market is really poor right now, so if you
need the money then you will have to put up with the customers.
If you can avoid the retail industry, then please try to do
so!! However, a biology degree doesn't get you very far right
now so I had no other choice. Good luck!
