Job Responsibilities
I am an office nurse. I room patients, answer patient questions,
help the doctor with procedures and do patient teaching. I give
shots and draw blood.
|
Job Requirements
For my position you need to have an ASma or graduate from an
accrediated nursing program.
|
Uppers
My office hours are Monday through Friday only. No weekends or holidays. Nurses
are not on call. There is always something to do. On the job options include
float nurse or a stationary nurse.
|
Downers
Sometimes the phone never stops ringing and it seems like you
can't get anything else done. Hours are supposed to be 8am-5pm,
but most of the time you need to arrive at least 30 minutes
early and you have to stay as late as it takes to get everything
done from the day. Sometimes late can mean as late at 7pm.
|
Lifestyle
Like I said above, the hours can be long. The best part is no weekends or
holidays. If you work with a surgeon, you might have to attend surgery with him
at the hosptial and some doctors have clinics in the surrounding areas that you
would have to travel with him to. The company has an employee pinic every fall,
and the clinic I work for has an employee banquet every spring. All nurses must
wear scrubs and white shoes except on the the 3rd Friday of each month we can
wear jeans and a company shirt.
|
Compensation
We have a very good starting salary and get a raise with every
yearly review. We have an option for the savings insentive
program were Cox matches up to 15% of what you put in. They
offer insurance through the company health system. If you are in
the hospital you get VIP treatment, such as a private room and
certain discounts.
