Major responsibilites are to recruit, train and retain new agents
time exceeds 60 hrs. a week - the more inexperienced the
recruit the more time must be spent in training

insurance specific courses great. Marketing helpful.

Lots of travel, eating out, community activities, industry activites etc. You
must enjoy meeting and working with a wide range of people, styles etc.

Compensation
Typically companies will pay Managers a base salary and an
overide on commissions generated by the agents in your unit.
This stipend may be insuffiecient for you to survive during the
first few years. Once a unit is established and doing well -
money becomes less of an issue for you and your income will be
substantially above that of your peers.

Advice to Jobseekers
Find a firm that is not only corporately committed to the
position, provides at least a 5k base salary for 3 years, and
has a well defined development plan for you and your unit - but -
(and this is critical) the local office you will be working
with must have a Managing Partner (sometimes called a GA) who is
equally committed and is trustworthy. Check out the Company in
