Location: Washington, DC
Company: Mphasis Ltd.
Experience: Mid-level
Highest Level of Education: Other Graduate Degree

Job Responsibilities
My responsibilities included Build and Release management, Testing co-ordination, and bug-fixing. I also helped co-ordinate offshore resources.
Job Requirements
A basic undergraduate or masters engineering degree is the entry level criterion. Promotion depends on performance, experience, and length of stay with the company. You can expect to be promoted in 2-3 years.
Uppers
Travel to exotic locations, interesting colleagues, challenging assignments in a wide variety of industries.
Downers
Occassional long hours, entry-level work can get boring after a while, and pay is lousy compared to peers in developed countries.
Lifestyle
Usually worked 8-12 hours a day, 5 days a week, with the occassional saturday. Travel is a part of the job, and you may end up spending 2-3 years away from home. Dress code depends on the client, but is usually relaxed. Social life depends very much on where you are based and the client culture.
Compensation
Approximately $50,000 per year, with no bonuses. Healthcare included a $10 deductible. I was not eligible for stock options.
Advice to Jobseekers
Job outlook is strong, and growth can be rapid if you have the ability. Be prepared to work long hours and handle demanding clients.
